Decky Day 2026

This year’s Indigenous Bowls Day, held during the NAIDOC Week celebrations, will see WISOS Wollongong host a large gathering of Indigenous bowlers and enthusiasts from across the state. The event promises a weekend of celebration, camaraderie, and competition,
uniting players and supporters in the spirit of the game.

In recognition of Decky’s outstanding contributions to WISOS and the Illawarra bowls community, we are proud to honour his legacy with a dedicated Indigenous tournament. This annual event not only celebrates his life and achievements but also strengthens ties within the community by giving back.

Funds raised during the tournament contribute directly to supporting local Indigenous groups.

Over the past two years, we’ve donated more than $16,500 to organisations such as the Illawarra Aboriginal Medical Service and the Coomaditchie United Aboriginal Corporation. In 2026, we look forward to
extending our support to the Giingana Gumbaynggirr Freedom
School — NSW’s first bilingual Aboriginal
language school. The school relies on
private funding to expand classrooms,
welcome more students, and strengthen
culture and language for future
generations.

We invite everyone—near and far—to join us in Wollongong for this special weekend, blending vibrant celebration with competitive bowls.

Together, let’s honour Decky’s legacy and continue building a stronger, united community
